Your journey towards improving your driving and riding starts here. Advanced Driving & Advanced Riding
The Central and South Devon RoSPA group (CASDAD) aims to help develop better drivers and riders. People who can not only drive or ride to a high standard, but can make the most of their vehicles. Most importantly, our members have an increased enjoyment of driving/riding and their journeys.

We have members who come from all backgrounds – some drive as a profession, some are driving instructors, some are total petrol heads, and some just want to feel more relaxed and confident when driving.
Above all, we pride ourselves on being friendly and all-inclusive. Lots of us have been members for many years now - driving is a constant learning process.
What makes a good driver, and a good drive?
A good driver is someone who can identify their own driving characteristics, including their own flaws. They adapt their style, and learn from experience. A good driver will identify and adjust for changes during the drive itself, such as weather, traffic conditions, or even how they feel that day.

A good drive is one where the driver:

-
Is fully aware of their surroundings.
-
Can give correct and timely information about the situation ahead.
-
Positions themselves correctly on the road.
-
Uses speeds that are appropriate to the environment.
-
Uses the gears and other vehicle controls correctly and in an optimal manner.

This should apply to any given road condition, situation or hazard.
To accompany this, a good driver will stay legal, behave in a courteous manner, and set a great example to other road users. This is something we all strive for, but may not always achieve. After all, no drive or ride is perfect, and every day is a learning day!
